Cultural Event 2010

On Wednesday, February 3rd, the students, teachers, faculty and parents of PS/MS 278 celebrated the many wonderful cultures of our school community! The event highlighted the things that make us unique, but also reminded us of what binds us together.

As an enthusiastic crowd cheered, the students performed in a magnificent program that honored the heritages and traditions of countries like the Dominican Republic, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Japan, Albania and Pakistan. They danced, sang, read to us in their native languages, and dressed in beautifully hand-crafted crafted costumes. Congratulations to all who participated in this magnificent and inspirational tribute to our 278 family!

Congratulations to Ms. Stiel and the PS/MS 278 Music Program!

In December 2009, the Muzak Heart and Soul Foundation awarded our school a grant worth $3,000 to be spent on supplies and instrument maintenance for our music program. There were $8 million worth of requested funds from all the applicants. A total of $100,000 was distributed by the donors to 30 schools nationwide. See http://heart.muzak.com/what/grants.aspx for more details and congratulations again to Ms. Stiel and to the staff and students of PS/MS 278!

Teacher Conference Dinner Fundraiser 2009

Thanks to our community and to the local businesses that supported this event!

Thank You PS/MS 278 Families and Teachers for your support of our Food to Go event on parent-teacher conference day. Together we enjoyed some excellent food, met new friends, and we are pleased to announce that our community raised almost $500 to support our spring graduation events.

Please join us in extending our gratitude to the following fantastic businesses for their in-kind contributions that made our event possible: Antillana Food Plaza, Cachapas y Mas, Carrot Top Pastries, Coogan’s, La Estufa, La Sala 78, Mama Sushi, Cafe Tabaco y Ron.

When you next visit one of these fine establishments, please remember to offer a special word of thanks for their generosity to PS/MS 278.

With gratitude,

The PS/MS 278 Parent Teacher Community Executive Board
