Schoolwide Enrichment Model Program (SEM)

One of the SEM’s goals is to provide enrichment opportunities to develop a student’s strengths through curricular differentiation based on students’ interests. The students are placed in a non-graded group with teachers who share common interests and come together during an SEM block in grades K-8.

This approach, called Enrichment Clusters, is designed to create a learning environment that places a premium on the development of higher-order thinking through projects, research, community resources, challenging activities and the arts. SEM offers problem-solving simulations and activities that ask students to transfer learning objectives into authentic and complex applications. These provide them the opportunity to develop individual projects and engage in exploratory learning activities.
